God in a life behind schedule...
Increasingly, time pressures crowd out the leisurely pace that prayer seems to require. Communication with other people keeps getting shorter and more cryptic: text messages, email, instant messaging. We have less and less time for conversation, let alone contemplation. We have the constant sensation of not enough: not enough time, not enough rest, not enough exercise, not enough leisure. Where does God fit into a life that already seems behind schedule?
I loved this quotation, and then I saw the author. I went to church with him a long time ago and I like his books. I need to check out this one.

I'm glad I read that, Maggi, thanks. I find it so hard to calm my brain down to anything approaching meditative... I'm the world's most easily distracted pray-er. But I do like to have something to contemplate WHILE I'm doing other stuff, so this will be it for the rest of the day!

It is true. In my own life I have had to cut back on things that cut time from my time with God. What I find is that I always have time for things that are important to me such as my job. I think people have let others things dictate how much time they will spend with God therefor in a sense placing certain apsects in our lives as more important than God.
