Holy Saturday ii
Today is not (officially at least) "Easter Saturday", although cultural forces may already have renamed it for us. It's actually Holy Saturday, the day AFTER - after crucifxion, violence, death and burial.
It's a day of shock, of disbelief, of desolation, of not-knowing.
I wrote some stuff on this today and decided to save it for the book. But go back here for further thoughts on Holy Saturday.
And according to some whom I have been with today, which they seem to have backed up with internet text services, Easter Saturday is in fact next Saturday.
Regardless of such semantics, Happy Easter to one and all, and thankyou Jesus for your ultimate sacrifice, and your divine resurrection which we will celebrate tomorrow.

that's right, Kevin - the days leading up to Easter Sunday are the "holies" and the days from Easter Sunday onwards are the "Easters". There are six SUndays of Easter, so enjoy the unfolding revelation a day at a time.

I've sometimes wondered if the day was a void, a day without God. The one day in eternity when God was dead? I'm struck with that thought every year. I re -read the Gospel accounts the other day and couldn't see any definitive mention of the day between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Perhaps it was too frighteningly amorphous for the Gospel writers to put into words? Or perhaps after the Resurrection, the day 'in between' just didn't matter anymore.
This part of the story does excite me; the mention in Matthew 27:50 - 53 of the other resurrections.
