Deep midwinter, the dark centre of the year,
Wake, O earth, awake,
Out on the hills a star appears,
Here lies the way for pilgrim kings,
Three magi on an ancient path,
Black hours begin their journeyings.
Their star has risen in our hearts,
Empty thrones, abandoned fears,
Out on the hills their journey starts,
In dazzling darkness God appears.

Darkness... there is something about the context of darkness. Only in darkness can you see the light for what it is.

Dear Maggi+, how this really speaks to my very soul. Thank you.

Interesting "brain snap" reading the words in your post and then imagining the person in the photo wearing the swimsuit (just to the right of the post) saying them!
Happy January to all of you in the higher latitudes! Actually I spent a winter in Hamburg, Germany when I was student (back in the 70s), so I have some appreciation of what you're going through.
