I took Sarah Mount's advice (not for the first time) and signed up with Remember the Milk. The good bit is, it records all the things you've done at the end of the day and gives you a great feeling of achievement. My desk is the kind of space that seems to fill up at least as fast as I empty it. So with no reminders of what I've done I sometimes end up with the feeling that nothing has been achieved. The last few days RTM has given me a warm glow of satisfaction as I register just what a massive amount of stuff powers its way through here in a working day. Palm pilot tells you what to do but doesn't ever say "thank you".
You can tell it months in advance to remind you to send a birthday card, although it won't actually do it for you (now that's a service I'd happily pay good money for). The bad bit is, when you're procrastinating or forget to do something, your computer nags you. Still, that's a small price to pay for a warm glow, no? Now then, must go and buy some milk...
