IRL disaster area

Dave (Disaster Area) Paisley has been in town for a conference. We met up for a drink last night, which ended up rolling on into supper. Things you would never pick up in cyberspace: Dave has a wonderful accent - a mixture of short vowel NE English and long vowel North American. I learned a lot of things - about the possibility of silent aircraft, the organisation of an Episcopalian vestry, the differing attitudes towards money and giving and a sense of "ownership" of church between our different localities, and all kinds of stuff about team work, co-operation and integration of skills (which Dave does for a proper job, but also has a lot to say about how it can apply in Church settings).  And, pleasingly, he also came up with a good explanation as to why it must be ME who won the battle of the dodgems...  ;)
