Eugene Peterson
Eugene Peterson is the author (is that the right word?) of The Message - the 2000's version of The Living Bible, near enough. It doesn't appeal to me particularly, although I know some people who swear by it (no pun intended!) Anyway, there's some interesting comments in this interview with Peterson.
I like especially his translation of the letters of Paul... in general... (not looking at any particulars right now). Lively, oral... wonderful to read aloud. I can imagine Paul telling us what he means in english (or is it American?)

Whatever one thinks of his paraphrases, I think his mastery of English / American idiom is exquisite - and he's a guru to lots of grateful youngsters who can thank him for bringing the Bible alive to them.

Agree, I'm unsure about the value of The Mesage - but his books on pastoral work (referenced in the interview) are gems of common sense and spiritual insight.
