Brains

Here's a post for any woman in the church who - like me - has been stepped on a bit lately. Cheer up! here's a silly joke to help:

In the hospital the relatives gathered in the waiting room, where their family member lay gravely ill. Finally, the doctor came in looking tired and somber. "I'm afraid I'm the bearer of bad news," he said as he surveyed the worried faces. "The only hope left or your loved one at this time is a brain transplant. It's an experimental procedure, very risky but it is the only hope. Insurance will cover the procedure, but you will have to pay for the brain yourselves.."

The family members sat silent as they absorbed the news. After a great length of time, someone asked, "Well, how much does a brain cost?" The doctor quickly responded, "$5,000 for a male brain, and $200 for a female brain."

The moment turned awkward. Men in the room tried not to smile, avoiding eye contact with the women, but some actually smirked. A man unable to control his curiosity, blurted out the question everyone wanted to ask, "Why is the male brain so much more?"

The doctor smiled at the childish innocence and explained to the entire group, "It's just standard pricing procedure. Male brains are expensive because they are as-new. We have to mark down the price of the female brains, because they've been used."

I'm sitting here smiling gently, which is just the job :-) xx

bwa ha ha ha ha

Oddly enough when I first heard that joke, a long time ago, the genders were reversed!

hugh, that's outrageous!!!

Outrageous - yes, true – yes but probably a reflection on the change in the position of women in western society for the better that has taken place in my lifetime.

Speaking personally, I sometimes fear that the only grey cells around my head are in my hair! :-)

Opps - it sat here for ages saying it was "waiting for typepad" so I pressed Refresh Page only to find it was posted twice. Sorry Maggi - not my mint condition brain this time but gremlins in the system

the perfect post for a brainless double comment, eh, hugh? ;)

Heh. I was expecting the "male brain" to be so much more expensive because it is so rare.

Sez a guy.

Funny! But I'm with Evers: I thought it was more expensive because of a "finder's fee"!

(Sez another guy.)
